hello, old friend.
3:38 AM
It's getting late so sleep well angel because I'll be back tomorrow. We can stay up late and smoke it down and feel the breeze beneath our feet and chalk it up to friends with no families. We're on our, we're on our own.----HELLO WORLDI hail from the faraway land of IGGY and yes I'm alive and no I'm not homesick but I am having a BLAST. PREPAREFOR ANANNOYINGLYLONGRANT(/start rant)It's so awesome here. Despite the no laptops, no alcohol (nah, I'm fine with that), no ciggies (I'm fine with that too), limited compy access rules- I've been having an ahmazing time. My roommate's this little active whirlwind from the UK- Toni Jackson, and she's just brilliant. She reminds me of Pippi Longstocking- like, a LOT- so I call her that a lot, too, much to her annoyance. She doesn't really see the similarity. ...The rest of my dormmates're really awesome too- there's Lydia Backhaus from the UK, Becca from Canada, Lisa and Sanush from right here, and Beth from the UK. And it's pretty neat because all of us're so different? Toni's kinduv like the (Pippi Longstocking!) rascally type- just really cute and bubbly and everything (I tease her about being annoying but she actually isn't really) (sorta) , and Lydia's unbelievably tall (envious) and white-blonde with transparent grey eyes and looks like she should be called something like Findabhair, from The Hunter's Moon. Lisa (fellow NJCian!)'s like the vintage girl of our group- she looks like a little white bunny in pictures, really- just really doe-eyed and sweet and yeah. Becca's kinda like the Maxine of IGGY Winter U! She's pretty strong-looking and has crayzee long eyelashes even without mascara and has a random wardrobe and ends up having the funniest faces in pictures without meaning too. Sanush...just kinda keeps the rest of us on the ground? Yeah. She's like the one sensible influence of the group (apart from me, because I'm very sensible too) - but then again she's a GEPer and really smart and all so I guess I sorta expected it. Beth reminds me of Avril Lavigne!!! Don't tell her that, though, or she'll skin me alive. She goes around in the whole red and black plaid/converse sneakers/studs and she has the crazy obsession with goats and her hair and it's hilar. Okay. (/end roomie rave)We went to Haw Par Villa for our Creative Writing module today. I'm such a bad local cuz this was my first time ever and I forgot almost all of the Chinese mythology stories except for Journey To The West. So yeah we walked through the Ten Courts Of Hell- (did you know prostitutes're drowned in a pool of filthy blood? and if you're unfilial, you get dismembered/your tongue/organs removed/or something.) and took lotsa pictures and then struck up conversation with Julian, who's from South Africa but has a British accent, Jo from the UK, Kylie from here, and Siddartha from India. It was so funny because all of us just kinda bonded over religious debate? And then we started talking about hashish/shisha/and is there any difference between the two? and then when we mentioned hashish, Jo just got this really weird goofy grin on his face and he was like "yeaaaahh...hashishhhh" and he looked totally stoned-happy-high, it was so funny. Then we started talking about marijuana and how people of India/S Africa/Singapore/UK treat it and all, and Jo was totally put off by the Singaporean death sentence and so he's never gonna come live here. so I guess you could say we bonded over marijuana and hashish. But it was all good clean fun. I swear it. ANYWAYYYY so yeah. In the meantime I'm missing lots and lots and lots of x-ctry trainings and feeling terrible for it, but I really can't help it. :/On the bright side: IGGY IS SO MUCH FUNNNNNNNNNWe'll be going to watch the Nutcracker Ballet at Harbourfront, I think, and then the Night Safari some other day, and I'm helping some girls put their makeup on for the gala dinner so that should be really fun too. I know I'm gushing. Sorry. Can you feel my great big goofy smile through the keyboard? if I make it through tomorrow (and I'm sure I will)I'd have broken my record for not crying (homesickness) at camps. Three days. Day three. peace out, lovebugs. <3
